Backstory:
Many talented skilled tradespeople were driven from the industry when the housing market took a dive along with the negative shift of the national economy. Today, consumers are finding themselves in a position to go forward with remodeling projects they put on hold and homes are beginning to sell again. With the recent increase in demand for their services, Builders and Remodelers are facing an unfamiliar predicament – a substantial reduction in available skilled tradespeople to do the work. When the only qualified workers are tied up on someone else’s job, unwelcome delays in the building timeline occur. And, this creates an issue that is not good for anyone!

The Building Industry Association of Central KY has developed a Workforce Development Training Program in partnership with The Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky Enzwiler Apprentice Training Program.

Mission:
The mission of the Building Industry Association of Central KY Apprentice and Workforce Development Training Program is to educate those who wish to excel in the skilled trades related to the Residential and Commercial Construction Industry through rigorous academic and real world experiential opportunities; providing the construction industry in Central Kentucky with the most highly trained and highly skilled workforce possible.

Vision:
The vision for the Building Industry Association of Central KY Apprentice and Workforce Development Training Program is to become the primary provider of employable individuals who have attained a high degree of skill development within the trades associated with residential and commercial construction.

2021 Trades Program Review

The Building Institute of Central Kentucky is offering THREE Trades

  • HVAC - 1 year program**
  • Plumbing - 1 year program**
  • Electrical - 2 year program** (KY State mandated 4 year program)
**In addition to a program completion certificate upon graduation, HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical students will be eligible to take the state licensure examination. All students will be prepared to pass the examination upon graduation, and if they meet the other state requirements, and pass the state exam, students will receive their journeyman’s license for their trade of choice.
** If taken four nights a week.
Class Information
Classes are held in the evening from 6:00pm - 9:00pm, so students may work through the day.
Class sizes are small, usually 15 students or less.

2021 Schedule
Now enrolling for the 2021 school year.

Job Placement
While the Building Institute is not guarantee job placement, we do work tirelessly to obtain jobs for all students. Part of the state requirement for licensure is the “On-Job-Training”, OJT component.

Classroom Instructors:
Our instructors are all experts in the trade they are teaching. Most instructors come directly from their job to the school, so the material being taught is as “real world” as possible. The instructor’s split the evening classes into 2 sections. The classroom, where instruction is based upon building codes and best practices; then laboratory, where students receive actual hands-on instruction with the material and equipment they will be working on during their day jobs.

Tuition:

Tuition - $8,000 for entire program

Tuition covers all classroom instruction plus text books, personal safety equipment, school supplies, field trips, lab fees, pre-graduation certificates like OSHA10, EPA608, CPR, and tools and equipment used in the school.

All text books and safety equipment are the students to keep after graduation. The Building Institute does not provide; personal tools for the students, code books, or pay for the students licensure tests.

Payment Plans are available. Please contact Brenda Vance at brenda@biacentralky.com for more information.
